Money Piece

The money piece is the bleach face-framing pieces — usually two front sections on either side of a center part, lightened significantly compared to the rest of the hair, blended at the root so the pieces look intentional. The technique mainstreamed in 2020-2022 (originally a Y2K throwback to the early-2000s 'cheerleader streaks') and has stayed firmly in rotation.

It flatters every face shape — the brightening pieces draw attention to the cheekbones, which works on round, square, heart, oblong, and oval. Straight, wavy, and curly hair all wear money pieces; the technique adapts to whatever the natural pattern is. The styling is universally flattering, which is why it's been so widely adopted.

Medium maintenance — the bleached pieces need root touch-ups every six to eight weeks (the contrast between root and bleached length shows quickly), refresh tones every six weeks to keep the brightness. Daily styling is just whatever the underlying cut is. The money piece's modern era is 2020-2024; it's currently one of the most-asked-for color treatments in salons globally.
