Cherub Bob

The cherub bob is the round, full, doll-like chin-length bob — chin-length all around, with heavy curtain bangs and intentional volume through the lengths. The shape is rounded, full, almost spherical when blown out. It became prominent on TikTok in 2022 as a softer alternative to the angular bob, and it traces aesthetically to 1960s European hair (think Anita Pallenberg, early Marianne Faithfull).

It flatters square, oblong, and heart faces — the roundness softens angular jaws, the chin-length cuts down oblong shapes by adding horizontal weight, and the curtain bangs balance heart-shaped foreheads. Wavy hair holds the rounded fullness best; straight hair needs a blowout to achieve the shape. Curly hair adapts but reads more 'rounded curly bob' than 'cherub.'

Medium daily maintenance — daily styling is a round-brush blow-out under and inward, ten minutes, to create the rounded shape. Trim every six weeks to keep the chin length consistent. The look went viral in 2022 (Sydney Sweeney's variant got particular attention) and has settled into the rotation. Ask for 'a round, full bob at chin length with a heavy curtain bang — doll-like, soft, rounded' — generic 'bob' won't produce the volume that defines this cut.
